Successfully breaking into the racing industry - the intersection of FSAE and career

Leo believes that opportunities played a large part in his ability to go from being a student team member to working as an Engineer at HubAuto. For Leo, the accumulation of experience in participating in FSAE and the team helped him find his first job. Quite an important opportunity.

Leo mentioned that in terms of technology, the knowledge learned in the team does not necessarily overlap with the work content. Racing is mainly divided into two major directions: design and car tuning. Most of the team members learned more in FSAE. It's more about the design. However, HubAuto and other customer teams almost all purchase racing cars from car manufacturers, and then tune and optimize the cars. They have to find ways to make the racing cars made by the original factory the fastest, and Leo is in When Beike Racing Team was in charge of Powertrain, there was a lot of overlap in the skills required for his position. This opportunity also made Leo the talent HubAuto was looking for.

Being able to quickly adapt to a high-pressure working environment after starting work is due to the stress resistance developed in the team. Looking back at when he first joined the team, there was a lot to learn, and Leo, as the team leader, had to do a lot of important things. The decision also made Leo at that timein the convoyAt onceDeveloped a mindset to make the team better, and when you get into work later, you can better adjust your state in the face of pressure.

From adrenaline addiction to deep interest, enjoying the process is the key

When asked about Leo’s motivation for joining the BeiTai Racing Team, it was actually very simple."Because he's so handsome!"

The handsome and exciting image of the racing team, as well as the adrenaline rush that can be experienced in every race, became an opportunity to lead Leo to join the team. However, after actually entering the team, I discovered that there are many cool things that can be encountered in the team! The technology used by the team and the development process were all novel to Leo, which aroused great interest in him. In addition, racing is a team sport. During the preparation process, he works hard with his teammates and colleagues to adjust the car to the best condition. Leo also enjoys the teamwork process.

From the seemingly straightforward motivation at the beginning, to the teamGenuine interest and enjoyment of the process are what keep Leo engaged in the racing industry.

How to deal with the impact of entering the workplace for the first timeFor immediate combat power?

Looking back on when he first joined HubAuto, the first challenge Leo encountered at work was to be able to adapt to the work environment and content immediately.

When he first entered the workplace, Leo was assigned an important position in the competition, which also made Leo feel quite challenging as a rookie in the workplace. In the workplace, he needed to deal with various large and small tasks at any time, which also made Leo understandYou must be prepared at all times to become the immediate combat capability your company needs.

In addition, Leo also shared that when a car is competing, the difference of a few tenths of a second in each lap may have a huge impact on the final result. In order to achieve 1% optimization, it may take a lot of time and effort. Therefore,The ability to focus on getting things done is also a very important ability in the workplace.

Follow the team to find out - Find the prescription to regulate stress at work

Although work is full of difficulties and challenges, for Leo, it is more about the interesting experiences he encounters in the process.

Recalling the most impressive places he encountered at work, Leo mentioned that work requirements often required him to follow the team to participate in competitions, courses, etc. In addition, you can get valuable first-hand information from major car manufacturers during your work."You can see the different design logics between various car manufacturers and gain a deeper understanding of the vehicle industry!"

Leo shared that although there is a lot of pressure during the season, you can always encounter a lot of fun things while racing. These interesting experiences have also become an important adjustment prescription when facing the huge pressure of the season.

HubAuto participated in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2020 and won the Asian Le Mans Series championship, and also received tickets for the Le Mans 24 Hours in France!

Continue to work hard and look forward to having the power to promote the development of the racing industry!

Like most students, Leo was confused about his career at the beginning. It wasn't until I joined the BeiKeTe team that I gradually discovered that I was more interested in the vehicle industry, and began to think about how to combine the team's experience with my own career.

Leo said that in fact, many team members have entered other industries after graduation. However, Leo hopes that he can bring the experience accumulated in the team into the society, so he decided to continue to join the racing industry.

When it comes to future career development, Leo wants to continue to stay in the racing industry. In addition to racing with the team, he also hopes to continue to improve the racing culture in Taiwan. Leo said that in fact, the public has many misunderstandings about Taiwan's racing industry. However, this industry requires many technical capabilities. Today, Taiwan's racing industry still lacks the systems and talents for professional team operations. LeoWe hope that Taiwan’s professional racing industry will become more mature, and we also hope to create more opportunities for racing talents to develop.

Regarding his future path, Leo also mentioned that he hopes that he can not only achieve good results in competitions with HubAuto, but also share the accumulated experience with people who are capable and interested in this industry. He hopes that through some of his own strength, Promote better development of Taiwan's racing industry.

Leo alsoI look forward to more junior students joining the vehicle industry., bringing the knowledge and experience learned in the team to the society, hoping thatThrough more talents working in the team, we can lead the development of Taiwan’s team together!

The first mile to your career, three essential abilities

1. Try in many ways and seize the opportunity to challenge yourself!

At the end of the interview, we asked Leo, as a senior of the team, what kind of advice and encouragement he had for the juniors and sisters who are on the team. Leo shared that in addition to learning what he is studying now, he also suggested that the juniors can try more while they are on the team. In different fields, there are many special things in FSAE racing cars. Generally, students have fewer opportunities to get in touch with them, but joining the team allows everyone to actually try and understand them.Provide a place where everyone who is still a student can practice and express their abilities and attitude, is a very rare opportunity, you can seize it.

2. Learn independently and master the latest trends

In addition to studying in the team, Leo also advises his younger siblings to learnDevelop self-learning ability. No matter which industry you work in, you need to be constantly exposed to new information and knowledge, grasp market trends, and understand the context behind it through the big and small events that occur in the industry. Leo also emphasized that in the workplace, you may encounter some tasks, which are For those who have no relevant experience in the past, the company may not necessarily provide relevant education and training resources, so self-learning ability becomes the key to quickly adapting to the job.

3. Understand the context and integrate across fields

Compared with being a student, after entering the workplace, you need to communicate and cooperate with different levels and departments at work. Therefore, Leo also believes that whether it is system integration in engineering or integration and communication across fields and departments, they are all necessary abilities. . Leo gave an example. A car is a large system with batteries, motors, suspension aerodynamics, frames and other parts. You can try to understand how each part and the final product interact with each other. This information can be used in school classes. It is difficult to have the opportunity to learn, andWhen you can grasp the context of the entire product, you will be better able to understand every link in the industry, and it will be easier to communicate with talents across departments and even across organizations, and you will have cross-domain integration capabilities.

In Leo's sharing, we can deeply feel his enthusiasm for the racing industry and see the efforts he has made for his career. I hope everyone can discover their passion and find the motivation to work hard for their goals!
